A brief introduction about myself.

I am an associate professor of bioinformatics at Kaduna State University (KASU). I joined the institution in 2005. I hold a PhD in Bioinformatics from Perdana University, Malaysia, as well as MSc and BSc degrees in Biochemistry from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria. Currently serving as the Provost of Sub-degree Programmes at KASU, I head the Committee on Bioinformatics Initiative (CBi) and am a member of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) National Mirror Technical Committee on Health Informatics.

I have held various roles at KASU, including Director of the Institute of Science, Technology, and Management Studies, Head of the Biochemistry Department, and Faculty Examination Officer. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, I co-chaired the international COV Task Force on Shareome, contributing a pipeline developed during my PhD studies. My research interest is in the field of bioinformatics and clinical biochemistry with a focus on applications of bioinformatics (computational analysis) to the study of shareome, immune responses, allergens, drug design, disease biomarkers and the discovery and characterization of genome-encoded "silent-protein" coding elements and regulatory network.

Passionate about bioinformatics education and outreach, I promote the integration of bioinformatics and data science into biological problem-solving. I mentor students, researchers, and interns and am a member of APBioNet, NBGN, and NSBMB.
